What is The Highlands?
The Highlands is a group of residential sites within the Jacks Point development at Queenstown.

 

What is Jacks Point?
Jacks Point is a unique private residential estate with spectacular mountain and lake views set over 1200 hectares (over 3000 acres) of countryside, encompassing a village community and exceptional living environments centred on open space, rural activities, natural values and recreation.

 

Where is Jacks Point located?
Jacks Point is located in the South Island of New Zealand.  Nestled on the shores of Lake Wakatipu and overlooked by the majestic Remarkables mountain range, Jacks Point is approximately 15 minutes drive from Queenstown.

 

Where is The Highlands within Jacks Point?
The Highlands sits in an elevated position beyond the Jacks Point village, commanding sweeping views of the Remarkables, Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding landscape.

 

How many home sites are in The Highlands?
The Highlands will eventually consist of 300 home sites.

 

What am I purchasing in The Highlands?
You are purchasing a freehold title residential home site.

 

When is settlement?
Titles for Neighbourhood 5 have been issued. Talk to us about the settlement options we currently have available.

 

What is the purchasing procedure?
Having selected your site, you will complete a Sale & Purchase agreement and pay a deposit of 10% upon becoming unconditional. The balance of the purchase price is payable on the agreed settlement date.

 

Are there restraints on what I can build?
Yes, an architectural design code - the ‘Design Guidelines’ has been developed to ensure a quality built environment in keeping with the natural landscape. In addition the Design Guidelines include Site Controls to ensure each site is optimised to take advantage of the natural contours of the landscape for house to house seclusion and to maximise views and sun. All architectural plans will require approval of the Jacks Point Design Review Committee.

How long do I have to build on my site?
There is no set time by which you are required to build by.

Will the Highlands have an House and Land packages available?
Yes, we are currently working on some house and land packages, and house plans will be available soon.

 

What utilities will be provided to each site?
Water, electric power, gas and telecommunication services will be provided to the boundary of all sites. Sewerage disposal will be provided from each owner’s primary treatment tank located underground on individual sites.

What amenities and facilities are planned for Jacks Point?
Building site coverage at Jacks Point is limited to only five percent of the total land. Almost all of the remaining area is retained as natural parkland, a championship golf course, and a network of walking, cycling and bridal trails, providing superb recreational activities.
The future village is to be built on a 10 acre lake. It will comprise a clubhouse facility, and a mixture of retail, commercial and residential elements similar to central Oueenstown, The village centre design is intended to have a focus on pedestrian landscaping, public walkways and a relaxed waterfront atmosphere.

 

Who is responsible for the planning and design of Jacks Point?
The international management practice Darby Partners Limited has designed and planned Jacks Point including the Golf Course. Darby Partners has been responsible for a number of award winning projects such as Millbrook Resort, Queenstown; Clearwater Resort, Christchurch and many others.

 

What is the Jacks Point Residents Society?
It is an incorporated Society registered under the Incorporated Societies Act 1908. The Residents' Society is governed by a written Constitution and provides a communal basis for preserving, maintaining and enhancing homes and property. The constitution requires mutual obligations to be performed by the individual owner and the community and ensures that the community is run by the residents - for the residents.

 

Will I automatically get golf course membership with a Highlands site purchase?
As an owner at Jacks Point, you are entitled to nominate two adults and two youths as 'eligible to join the golf club'. An annual subscription or discounted green fees for members will apply.

 

Who owns and maintains the parklands and recreational areas?
The Residents Society owns the parklands and recreational areas and will employ services to maintain these and residents will be levied to cover the cost.

 

What are the likely annual rates?
Rates will be set by the Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) and levies will be set by the Jacks Point Resident's Society. Estimates of the Resident's Society Levies are available on request.
